That's not flash, it's Shockwave. (Why do people still write Shockwave, not Flash, in 2006?)

Awesome!

It is reminiscent of playing with the Mandelbrot set back in DOS-days -- some part of your brain always expects to somehow get to the "end" of the zoom range.

Wow. That's cool monju_bosatsu. I could play on that information link for hours.

Did Macromedia do something special in 2006 to differentiate their similar web plug-ins?

Shockwave has a 3D engine, for one...

The other projects from the second link are also pretty cool. I really liked the memories one.

some part of your brain always expects to somehow get to the "end" of the zoom range.

with this one, you do. you will eventually converge on a mostly monochromatic image which, when clicked in the right place, just returns itself.

No, I just meant that by now I figured everyone agreed that Flash had won. But maybe there's something specific to Shockwave the author of this thing wanted. I will never know, though, since there's no Shockwave for my platform.

I found a bug- the wrong picture loaded on a zoom.
Also, my entire machine locked up when the page first loaded. Scary!

I can't believe no one's linked to the Hasselhoffian Recursion.

I got to level 3.

Seriously, this is spiffy, however I also found a bug - I zoomed in on a black girl's eye, and got the eye mixed in with someone's shoes/feet in like a 50-50 blend. Odd.

For fun and realizing how this more or less works, try to keep zooming in on the lightest or darkest thing you can find (or reddest, or bluest - but pick one).
