Thank god SOMEone decided to recover this amazing film.
I'll savor every grainy clip until someone glues together and burns a bootleg.
Excellent post.

The story behind the movie:
[...]It's taken from the Miramax version, the Calvert version, the Williams workprint, and other sources that he discovered. The quality, as you would expect, is highly variable. There are scenes taken from a pan & scan DVD, painstakingly overlayed and synchronized with the lesser-quality but CinemaScope ratio workprint. There are scenes that are only storyboards. There are scenes where a character's mouth has been re-animated by hand to synchronize with the original dialog, or lack thereof. It is a tremendous piece of work, the restoration of one man's labor of love, that became another man's labor of love.

I used to own this movie, but it got lost somewhere along the way. Sad, really.

The 3d translation being done is truly amazing for being hand drawn. Wow.

I've seen this recobbled cut about six times with different groups of friends after it was announced on Something Awful dot com several months ago. It is really well-done and the writing is funny too!

A couple of the YouTube commenters point out torrented versions (at Pirate Bay &c.) but I haven't turned up anything. Is there a high-res torrent floating around somewhere?

I'd just like to mention I spent quite a while at these links. And I dragged other people down with me. It was quite the evening around here.

"Hey! Did you read about the extra scenes he found?!"

"Dude! You've never actually seen the movie! How can you be that excited about the extra scenes?"

But we were excited. And we haven't even watched the recobbling yet.

Hmmm... I'm having trouble d/l with bittorrent. I installed bittorrent just to get this. I d/l a different torrent just to test it and that worked. I've looked at the bittorrent help pages but didn't find anything that seemed useful. I get a little of it but then it just seems to die. Can anyone offer any suggestions?
