Minimalist Dark Sides

Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon as a soundtrack to its album art. Parts 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 (YouTube).
For another painstakingly minimalist (though livelier) tribute, Kenny G's Intelligent Design show on WFMU recently featured Nick the Bard's a cappella rendition of the entire album. Playlist & link to audio archive here.
This Kenny G is all like:
Why should I change? He's the one who sucks!
I must admit: I'm a sucker for Floyd. A Capella? Not so much. It's the chest thumping doo doo doos.

Jesus christ, that is boring. That someone spent time doing that is unfathomable.

Good grief! After the art I thought I'd give the a cappella a go. It was truly awful. Is Nick the Bard supposed to be some sort of comedian? If so, he has failed miserably in my ears. Pink Floyd should serve both of these miserable efforts with cease and desist orders.

Kenny G, totally fucking up on why they called him "Bird"--to our collective ridicule.
Not only is he souless, but he's a fabricating liar. Or clueless. Or all three.

Different Kenny G (than the horrid saxophone guy). The one on WFMU is Kenneth Goldsmith, a poet -- not that he particularly minds the confusion.

Alright, I'm going to totally derail this thread -- I actually read the Kenny G interview sourwookie posted. A few years ago, I saw him on TV giving an interview as well (I promise, I'm not obsessed or anything).
He's consumed with race. He's always talking about how he was thought of as the "white" whatever, white Coltrane, white Parker, etc. It's a little distasteful, in addition to the obvious sense of self-importance to music that is totally undeserved.
In the TV interview, he was talking about his band. He had this wanky slap-bass player whom he referred to as "the only white guy I've met who can play jazz bass." What gives? If I was still in grad. school I could totally write a cultural studies/identity politics paper on this.

Kenny G's show always makes for a challenging listen. I still can't shake the memory of the time he played a loop of a jingle for the movie "Giant" for 2 hours straight.

Well, it's certainly one in the eye for those who say that all Pink Floyd fans are wierd, obsessive male dweebs.

Kenny G? White Coltrane?
LMAO. *wets self*
Putting aside the whole weird race obsession, Lawrence Welk has moresoul than Kenny G.

Wow that a cappella Dark Side sure is something! The only thing it's missing is a laugh track.

Is Kenny G the one who played the entire audio of the Friends series finale at 50% speed? Or was that another of the FMU whacked-out geniuses?
