50s and 60s Album Covers. Archive volunteer and resident video guru, Eric Graf has amassed an amazing collection of novelty and children's records from the 50s and 60s. He brought a stack by the other day to be scanned. Check out how these covers make you want to rush to your phonograph to play the record. [via Bedazzled]

Reminds me of something:

Part of the reason I decided to purchase a pair of Numark TTX turntables instead of the standard Technics is that the Numarks can play 78s. When I was around three years old, I had a set of records with 16-frame animation printed on the label (seen here if you search for Red Raven). The records were mastered for 78 RPM, and although there were pressed cheaply
and thus badly cracked, I could finally play the animations again.

Wow, that's a digression. I think I may have had some these when I was little, but the only surviving kids' record from my old collection is Peter and the Wolf b/w The Sorcerer's Apprentice (both narrated by Sterling Holloway)

If you want to actually hear these records as well as check out some nice cover art, I highly recommend Kiddie Records Weekly - I grabbed tons of these for my kids, but a lot of them are really inappropriate in this day and age. And my kids found them boring besides ("Daddy, what's that scratchy sound on all these?").

Anyways, this site is the motherlode.
