Trollicious!
Although the article seems to be more about drug trafficking than immigrants. Especially since they point out the people who attacked the border fled back into Mexico.
And I don't think anyone for undocumented workers would approve of the violence against the border patrol.

Oh, good grief. Let me quote the salient part of the article:
A U.S. Border Patrol entry Identification Team site was overrun Wednesday night along Arizona's border with Mexico.
According to the Border Patrol, an unknown number of gunmen attacked the site in the state's West Desert Region around 11 p.m. The site is manned by National Guardsmen. Those guardsmen were forced to retreat.
The Border Patrol will not say whether shots were fired. However, no Guardsmen were injured in the incident.
The Border Patrol says the incident occurred somewhere along the 120 mile section of the border between Nogales and Lukeville. The area is known as a drug corridor. Last year, 124-thousand pounds of illegal drugs were confiscated in this area.
The Border patrol says the attackers quickly retreated back into Mexico.
Okay, I said I'd quote the salient part, but ended up quoting the whole damn thing because it's so short and information-free. The smart money says the Guardsmen were attacked by drug runners, an issue which has absolutely nothing to do with immigration. Of course, with all those armed Minutemen wandering around, who really knows who attacked?
This is a non-story.

I don't think its too hard to figure out that if you're comfortable making a living smugging across the border, you might as well smuggle anything.

Okay, listen, I don't agree with the tone of the original post. It sounds extremely slanted to me. I didn't mention kiddy porn or abortion.
Most of the smuggling across the border is controlled by organizations. Some organizations engage in smuggling drugs over the border and others might smuggle people. But I would argue that the majority of people are smuggled in by organizations. If you're not going to read it because it's from the Federal government, I'll quote it:
Each year, hundreds of thousands of illegal migrants are moved by international smuggling organizations, often in harsh or even inhuman transit conditions, from their countries of origin to the United States
In other words, this isn't (completely) about people crossing the border for a better life. Its about criminal organizations profiting from smuggling anything they can across the border. The free republic (I know, I know!) article mentions that the Mexican military is also involved, _on the side of the criminals_. Whatever, your take on families trying to make life better for themselves that your take... However, I personally don't really like the idea of a huge drug cartel operating this close to where I live. This attack (mentioned in the original post) might sound like a completely brazen action, but it will happen more often. The economics will dictate that.

I read this article earlier, and it sounds kind of bizarre. Some foul up in the 'rules of engagement' perhaps?
Seems that skirmishes like this happen every once in a while, but they usually only get a small note in the local papers.

I had a big argument with people who I thought knew better. Why aren't people complaining more about illegal immigration in NYC? Surely there's a huge undocumented population here but we haven't closed any hospitals because of it. Not only that but they go to school!!! OMG SHOCKING!
