All the music google can find

Over at findmemp3, a clown-suit for google, you can playlist, stream, and download mp3s.
There are some kinked usability issues and it's certainly more shotgun than surgeon results-wise, but there they are: lots and lots of mp3s.
And by 'clown-suit' I mean 'innovative dynamic XMLSocket/AHAH/AJAX-based exploitative web 2.0 social mashup,' of course.

I only mention it because I was introduced to playlist.com because a friend of mine was using it make a playlist on myspace. After looking into it, I figured out it was doing this "clown-suit" google kind of thing.

I want to like this, but I don't understand it. Did we just time-travel back to 1999? "You then listen to your songs, if you have the legal right to listen to them" seems very dotbomb loopholey logic. Google disabled the mp3 filetype search some time ago, to prevent just this, I thought. Must be an asbestos clown suit.
Also, it's returning absurd results. Honestly, when I search for "Driver 8" and it returns a list a mile long made up almost entirely of non-driver, non-8, non-REM stuff like Garth Brooks, what am I to make of it?
Where'd you find the link to this, carsonb? Does this developer's boss know that this shit is live?

Well, I learned today not to believe everything I read on the web. Innovative, harrumph. Thanks for the link, puke & cry.

Yep, that took me a while to decipher. It returns all the mp3 files in any /folder/ that contains the search string. I've grown to like finding what I want near the top and then scrolling down and adding a bunch of other stuff.

I found it at Dark Roasted Blend.

Oh, and I don't know about this developer's boss, why do you ask?

a clownsuit that searches 1-click hosts will probably provide more useful results, albeit without a fancy playlist feature..

The liability isn't in downloading MP3s, it's in sharing the back to the world on p2p networks. No one has ever gotten in trouble for downloading music, just for uploading it. The RIAA is intentionally trying to confuse people on this point, however.

unmake: That site rocks. I was able to find an album I've been looking for for a while.

I am so so glad you posted that. Life just got better.
You don't even really need the site though, as it simply plugs your search term into a clever google query.
*makes a Firefox plugin that does the same thing*

This site isn't that good -- for some queries, such as "Radiohead," it does fine, but for others, like "The Killers," it's way off. Furthermore, there's no indication to how long a song is and there are quite a few results from ringtone sites.
I'm going to stick with SkreemR -- like this website it has indexed most of the music found on Google , but I'd have to say it's done it much better. Here's "The Killers" and "Radiohead" on SkreemR.

There's a bunch of these out there. Most of them use a pretty basic script. I bought one for $99.00 for a test a while back, plonked it onto a quick and dirty web page and the result was Groupzz. See here.
