Good old fashioned Eugenics

When UCLA students conducted an investigation into Planned Parenthood's policies they came up with some disturbing results that seem to condone racism.
The same student newspaper also caught Planned Parenthood employees advising a minor to lie about their age to avoid statutory rape charges. This story has appeared on a large number of right-wing and Christian news blogs but it doesn't seem to have been picked up by the mainstream press. Despite this, protesters are planning on appearing in front of Planned Parenthood's offices in Washington DC, including black pastors and two GOP congressmen.
Planned Parenthood's response: Cease and Desist.

Except the masthead of "The Advocate" basically states that they're against all abortions. It seems to me that they're trying to conflate abortion with racism with the intent of getting people to oppose abortion as opposed to racism. This isn't about race at all IMO.
Anyway, their explicitly stated moral stance on abortion makes these people into not-journalists. So it's not as if they deserve journalistic protections for recording conversations without peoples' permission. Though I doubt that actual journalists are allowed to do what these guys did either.
As for this not being picked up by the mainstream press: opponent of abortion dislike Planned Parenthood. Not exactly film at eleven material.

The meat of it is:
1) Pro-life UCLA students call up a bunch of Planned Parenthood offices and say they want to donate money. Oh yeah, they want it specifically earmarked for aborting "black babies".
2) A few offices take the bait, saying "we'll take your money, whatever your reason for giving it."
3) Surprise! Students were recording the calls without the consent of both parties, and post their hardwork to youtube.
4) Planned Parenthood sends a cease and desist telling them to take down the illegally obtained recordings of their employees or there will be legal action.

Why'd the pro-lifers name their magazine after a prominent GLBT mag? That's weird.

This story was designed by scientists to kill racist anti-abortion rights people by making their heads asplode.
The comments in the YouTube videos are, well, not really surprising but still disappointing.

"This story has appeared on a large number of right-wing and Christian news blogs but it doesn't seem to have been picked up by the mainstream press."Yep, sometimes the news actually doesn't suck.
"Planned Parenthood's response: Cease and Desist."Well within their rights since the calls were recorded illegally. A C&D is being nice in this case.

That doesn't seem like a contradiction to me. The "student newspaper" link was also an activist site.

According to Salon.com, this wasn't "UCLA students" or a student newspaper, it was antiabortion activists that included one attention-mongering student.
"Lila Rose, a UCLA student [was] doing undercover work for the Advocate, an antiabortion magazine. There isn't exactly news here -- this is just the latest attempt by antiabortion activists to entrap Planned Parenthood workers by posing as underage girls."

Well, these magazines are basically porno for the far right, so it's not surprising they're doing porno titles. You know: The New York End Times, Mother Of God Jones, that sort of thing.

I think the pdf must be corrupted, I can't find the section where they rail against obvious demographic slant in the capital punishment system.

klang, did you read it? It's page 3 (4?) of the issue I linked to. I have no idea who this woman is but I guess it's old news, is it?

Mr. Encyclopedia, this post appears to have all the makings for a fine entry in your own aptly-named blog, The Encyclopedia of Pointless. There, it could reside comfortably alongside such quality posts as The Epic Tale of the Moron and His Mirror (frightfully tough!) and your dimestore treatise on objectivism, Things I Believe. This is not, however, a good post for MetaFilter.

the conservative divide-and-conquer strategy is in full swing again, it seems. nice piece of divisive politicking you've got going here. have fun with that. i'm really disappointed we don't seem to have learned anything from the last eight years at all. congrats on scoring your points, mr. encyclopedia. glad to see your on the side of protecting us all from the kind of people who practice forced abortions.

Dunno what to say. Planned parenthood was stupid to rise the the bait, but this is a damned effective smear campaign and unless they are doing more than responding with some C&Ds, they're not doing enough.

That comment doesn't answer the question why you could specify what ethnic group you want to "help" purchase this procedure. All though I doubt very strongly that Planned Parenthood as a group is hoping to target anyone one ethnic group, it still is a strange idea.

[This is total crap]
No, seriously. Why are you linking to this unredeemable bullshit? This "Advocate" states right in the masthead that they're "muckrakers". I don't think that that word means what they think it means.
Also, WTF? Did they seriously not know about the GLBT magazine already known as The Advocate?
