Gracious Departure

Apparently women sports icons know how to bow out at the top of their games. First Annika Sorenstam announced she is retiring following the 2008 season. Now Justine Henin is leaving tennis immediately. These two superstars will be sorely missed but at least they aren't hanging out way past their prime like male counterparts have.
This post was deleted for the following reason: This kind of seems like an excuse for sports chatter more than anything like an actual good post. -- cortex
By the way, not worth a post by itself, but other tools at Dickipedia.

Yeah, I have to take some issue with the notion that you need to retire early to make sure you don't hang out past your prime. Retire early and make a motza off of sporting endorsements if that's your thing, sure, but you don't need to retire early just to make sure you aren't labelled as being "past your prime." There are many instances in the world of pro tennis alone where older players are just as good if not better than some of the young 'uns. Steffi Graf, Andre Agassi, Martina Navratilova... to name but three. All played to an age that was normally far beyond what most of their fellow players would normally play to and all are legends in their own right.
Also, yeah, pretty much what Durn Bronzefist said.
