One of them had to lose. Rather than figure out how this unavoidable ending can be blamed on either sexism or racism, why not be happy that we had a WOMAN and a BLACK GUY as our top two contenders?

I would like to use this brief respite before a deletion to discuss an important topic which is near and dear to my heart: organic farming. Has anyone else had any success in this area?

Doesn't this all but rip off "Goodbye to all that #2," widely circulated on the Internet over the last few months?

Ah, the gender card on the river. I wonder if Obama would have resorted to the race card if the roles were reversed...somehow I doubt it; just as misogyny seems to be more "acceptable" than racism, the misogyny card is as well I suppose.

Good lord. Maybe the "bitch" label came about because of the vicious, negative campaign she's been running. Any male candidate running a campaign like that would be referred to as an "asshole" or "dickhead" or any number of other derogatory names. Will it make this poor columnist happy if I retire the gender-specific names in favor of something more neutral?

The sexist vs. racist discussion with the Democratic candidates is really getting old. Obviously, both exist and both have a big impact on elections. But consider how far we've come.
My own decision to support Obama had nothing to do with such stupidity. I think of Clinton and Obama to be nearly equivocal in most of their issue stands, so I ended up making my choice based on the fact Clinton voted to authorize Bush's Blank Iraq Check. Obama wasn't in the senate then, but he did give an excellent speech against "Dumb Wars" in 2002, which was gutsy for someone with political aspirations given the political climate at that time.
Clinton's rhetoric now is "if I'd known then what I know now" Well, I want to elect a president that can't have the wool pulled over his/her eyes, or bend to political fear (which is likely what it really was), that easily.
I knew Iraq was a dumb war in 2002, just like Obama. He got my vote, more enthusiastically than any Democratic presidential candidate I've ever voted for.

I think if there had been a large public outcry about the 'misogyny' against clinton it could have backfired.
But whatever, I think Hillary Clinton really reviled herself to be an awful person. How am I supposed to get weepy-eyed about someone who dredged up all this negativity and vitriol? All our vulgar words for bad person are kind of gendered. We call men assholes and bastards, and women are called bitches.
I think, frankly, that this idea that vulgar attacks on one woman is the same thing as vulgar attacks on all women is misplaced. If a man were behaving the way Hillary was, he'd be called all kinds of names, in fact I think if a man were trading in the kind of racial stuff that Hillary was trading in as a democratic candidate he'd be vilified and condemned far, far more strongly.
Just imagine if John Edwards had said he was the candidate of "hard working white Americans". Would it have been brushed off? I kinda doubt it.

Considering how flat out mean and underhanded political campains can be, I have a hard time scraping up some outrage over this. Sorry Hil, all out of whaaa! Come back later.
I do have to admit that the inter-left mudslinging seems fairly harsh this year. I get the impression that the Clintons want to join the ranks of the Bushs and Kennedys as an american political family, and are not afraid to damage the standing of the democratic party to get it. Seems it would be easier for a Clinton to wrest the presidencial seat from a republican in 2012 than it would be to cede to a party member and try again in 2016.
