New STATUS info for MetaFilter! Now I can see what has happened during the 15 minutes I was away!
I second that emotion. The Siamese Twins Known As Matt And Howie put the Fun in Functionality and the Fuse in Ease Of Use. Or something.

now for the next trick: let us opt-in for email updates when someone posts a comment on a link we post... and then, threaded comments; oh my!

opt-in email updates are a possibility no one has asked for yet.
Fully threaded (slashdot style) comments were originally designed from day one, but it was way too hard on the database. I never could figure out the programming gymnastics to create the parent-daughter relationships between messages quickly, without taxing resources.
I could have just one level of replies (like this comment could go directly under yours, but you couldn't start a new thread below this comment, it would have to be at the same level). This is already programmed, but I never turned it "on".

Actually, Wendell, I like to think mathowie puts the Funk in Funktionality. I also like to think that "mathowie" sounds like a sound effect from the old Batman TV show. Biff! Zap! Mathowie!!
