Never did see what this all has to do with Punk.
Because Steamy Neo-Victorians brings to mind a whole different thing, primarily erotic novels by anonymous authors. Or maybe that's just my take.
Oh, and Wikipedia reminded me that it goes back to Cyberpunk, which is more punk than Steampunk is. For whatever reason, Steampunkers often embrace the high-falutin' side of Days Past, less of the gritty underworld of Cyberpunkery.

These seem sort of similar to the actual Star Wars designs. I don't get a great sense of the late 19th century.
I always found Steampunk sort of odd, given that by 1905 Einstein had already discovered Relativity, and I prefer what has come to be known as Clockpunk more.
Would the Flintstones caveman technology be considered Stonepunk?
