Desperate Days

The recent workplace murders in Alabama may be another example of "a uniquely-Reaganomics-inspired crime" started by Joe Wesbecker. But workplace killings are not the only signs of desperation. There have been one or two articles on this topic but mostly the media have been concentrating on scapegoats like Bernie Madoff which may or may not successfully drain away some of the emotion.

(Madoff, of course, is employing the classic Emmett Roe defense and when, in 18 or 24 months he is released from prison on account of poor health and advanced age, people won't even notice.)

This post was deleted for the following reason: The second link now goes to some weird creepy "donate now" page and overall this post doesn't seem like something neat you found on the web. -- jessamyn

I think it was Astro Zombie in another thread who said that trickle-down economics is a sham, but trickle-down desperation is totally believable.

started by Joe Wesbecke

I thought that said Joe Wurzelbacher for just a split second. OK, back to the links.

Me? I'm voting for trickle down deletion of editorialized posts. Bye!

Bernie Madoff is a scapegoat? He's not to blame for the whole rotten economy, certainly, but he's a major white collar criminal by any global standard, or so I thought.

Nah, pretty sure homosexuality is to blame.

This is a bad post. It's a dozen kinds of faux-outrage rolled into one with no substance.

Are you sure? The copy of the Gay Agenda I received after coming out is largely a style and decorating guide with a selection of delightful recipes.

You have to read every other word.

What is it about the right wing and terrible grammar?

I'm pretty sure some people will notice.

It may well be a bad post overall, but that series of articles by Nick Turse is pretty worthwhile IMO. The bleetings of Exiled Online's Mark Ames', not so much. I'm just happy to see someone writing about things from this kind of angle.

Joe Bageant sort of approaches similar issues from his own particular persective occasionally.

Education spending cuts.

That "Exiled Online" site is classy:
But as awful as this sounds, at least there’s a silver lining to this story. A silver lining smeared with blood and cum, that is: yes, Joseph Cassano may soon be gagging on a heapin’ helpin’ o’ prison cock. … Maybe he’d be better off hiring himself a dentist to remove his teeth? Because we hear that the first thing they do to a guy like Cassano in prison is bash out all his teeth to make fucking his mouth a little easier.
That's not the comments, either, that's in the copy. The comments are (bizarrely enough) actually less florid. That must break some fundamental law of the Internet.

Yep, and I become more convinced of it every day.

Bernie Madoff stole ~$50 billion dollars.

He's not a scapegoat, he's a goddamn supervillain.

Were USPS shootings Reganomics-inspired? They started well before Joe Wesbecker's effort, and what lttle research I've just done [just then] seems to indicate they were at least a result of economic downsizing.

Hmmm. I just read the 2nd link and it seemed like a lot of words to say something fairly simple. I reckon this one I stumbled across is a better read, and it also tries to find answers.

http://www.fdungan.com/usps1.htm

Entering from the east side of the building, Patrick Henry strode towards Supervisor Esser. The .45 caliber Colt Model 1911-A1 is a handgun that requires concentration. Thumbing off the two safeties, Patrick Henry lifted the weapon from his satchel and pointed it at the ceiling, reaching across with his other hand to pull back the slide and jack a round into the chamber. Coming closer, almost to point-blank range, he extended his arm until his elbow locked and slowly brought it down while he sighted across the barrel. Being careful to squeeze, not jerk, the trigger, he applied the five pounds of pull necessary to fire the weapon.

It discharged with a blast that sounded more like a shotgun than a pistol. Supervisor Esser was leveled by the tremendous impact of the flat-nosed slug as it tore a gaping hole through his body.

Take that, Supervisor Esser!

I'm sorry, but this this is really, really offensive. There is no humour or political advantage to be found in those horrible events. I can't imagine what would make someone attempt to advance any agenda in such a thoroughly shameless manner. A truly serious mental illness is all I can think of. Flagged eight ways from Sunday.

How coy. Clever use of a quote from a linked article so therefore not editorializing, but certainly loaded with troll intent. The fact that it's smearing a favourite target of the left makes it all the more forgivable for your average Mefite.

I blame Thatcher, actually.
