The power of words

In an age where the term HERO, is applied liberally, its always nice to see one more example of true merit from our armed forces.
This post was deleted for the following reason: I'm glad the guy has recovered, but this is a hard sell for a schmaltzy CBS puff piece and really isn't a great post for mefi. -- cortex
It also seems a little too much like a US military promotional video, frankly, and I get enough of that (the only full-time English-language channel here is the Armed Forces Network, after all).

I'm not sure "hero" isn't being applied a little liberally here, myself.

Although his story dmonstrates personal courage and sacrifice, I am not convinced Lt. Brennan qualifies as an hero.

I'm impressed by this guy, his determination, his recovery and journey to overcome a horrific injury, but he's a heartwarming aside in a much longer, more tragic story, imo.
