The Passion of Jorge

Jorge's baptism.
Apparently Jorge was a bit nervous about the whole thing and, well, yeah. This took place in Filadelfiakyrkan in Stockholm.

This post was deleted for the following reason: "Guy dives into baptismal pool" is kind of thin. Go Jorge and all, but not much of a post. -- cortex

What kind of church has pro-shot video of their baptisms? Regardless, his dive in was an amusing blip in an otherwise overly lavish presentation.

During a church service at the Pentecostal Assembly Philadelphia Jorge chose to dive into the dopgraven. Allt spelades in av församlinges tv-team. Everything was recorded by the Assembly television team. Klippet är ett utdrag från denna film. The clip is an excerpt from this film. Wow, that's the most generous thing I've read all day.

That's a religion I could get behind. Naptists. Sleeping in on Sunday would be required. Companies who tried to fire you for sleeping on the job could be prosecuted for not allowing you to freely practice your religion. I think it has potential.

pro-shot video
Wow, that's the most generous thing I've read all day.
It wasn't a shaky hand-held camera, the shots were well staged, and there were close-ups on peoples faces with actual editing of the footage. It wasn't just somebody with a handycam who wanted to record the moment for their family member or friend. In other words, the church is rather interested in their own presentation, and how they share their image with the world.
The source comment was probably a joke, but I started writing and decided to finish my though. I think I also need a nap.

What's the point of videoing baptisms?
"Hey, wanna see a video of my baptism?"
"Er, no. Not really."

oh, how I love this. I love seeing him reverently praying, totally caught up in the moment. So often when there is a camera the mind's eye is on the camera, but Jorge's mind's eye is on God.
