Yet another tale of internet revenge. Is this what the web was really made for?
my bullshit meter is going off. i don't think this is this girl's boyfriend and if it is then it's a stunt to get people to the site by getting sites like mefi posting links to it.

Seems like an obvious marketing ploy for the Uboot site if you ask me.
Main reason being that Uboot is a niche European community / wireless services site which most potential revengers won't have heard of. I would have expected AOL, Xoom, Virgin.net, Fortunecity... but not Uboot. Meanwhile Uboot is exactly the kind of trendy company one would expect to use "guerilla marketing" or other viral whatnots.

tobyslater: Do viral whatnots cause stuff that's shown on her 'favourite' site, rotten.com?

'sbollocks.
(and the hacks who fell for it should be ashamed of themselves. tobyslater's completely on the ball here: you'd expect Geocities or Freeserve to host something like this, not the underperforming Barleyfest that's uboot. And including the exact URL in all the stories just proved that it was designed to drive traffic to the site.)

oooh. a photo community. how...novel. but i guess they needed to come up with something "new", since their mobile service isn't exactly taking off in the uk:
does uboot work with any mobile phone?
yes, of course - uboot works with all uk network operators. but to reply to a uboot nickname, your operator has to have an agreement with uboot.
currently:
one2one- on its way...
orange - no
vodafone - coming soon...
bt cellnet – not too long now...
virgin mobile - coming soon...
(from the faq)

some one ripped off my site. so to get back at him i put up a seperate page where i put up his picture and wrote about his deed.
i am hoping that the more people link to the site, the higher up it goes in the google search ranking. so next time he tries to make a vanity search or his girlfriend/friends search for him online, the page will show up.
