Good thing you didn't post this while it was on downtime or you'd be in trouble.

Also, appears to be centered around New Zealand music/musicians.

Some very interesting stuff here. For anyone looking for "Kiwi Week" suggestions at the more accessible end of the spectrum, I can highly recommend The Flying Nun box set; Hail, by Straightjacket Fits and Anthology by the Clean. Especially Hail. Wonderful record.

I think he's the same person behind the kiwitapes blog. Regarding Kiwi Week, don't miss A Cuppa Tea and a Lie Down by the Able Tasmans.

Further to the more accessible (and is it!) Kiwi records: anyone who hasn't heard it, I urge you to find The Chill's 'Submarine Bells'. It's one of my all time favourites - perfect happy pop music.

Verlaines and The Bats are also really very great.
While I was in New Zealand, I scoured and scoured and couldn't find any Flying Nun records (or CDs or whatever) in the shops. Here in Canada, though: No problem. Weird.

This is the sort of thing I wish I had extra ears and time to listen through. Thanks!

It should be mentioned that no attempt's been made to exclude music that's currently in-print - sometimes from the artist's own label. And a few aren't happy about it.

What's really beyond the pale, as far as I'm concerned, is offering newly released entire box sets, which this site has been known to do. That's just really, really uncool as far as I'm concerned.

What's really pathetic is that this guy can't even be bothered to write his own descriptions. Pretty much every one I've seen seems to be cribbed from writers at AllMusic.com.

Oh yeah, if this guy is posting links to in-print stuff that the artists want removed, and he ain't removing it, that's fucking bad. Scumbag type bad.
