Insane Clown Pose: And God created Controversy

All of which makes Violent J's recent announcement really quite astonishing: Insane Clown Posse have this entire time secretly been evangelical Christians. They've only been pretending to be brutal and sadistic to trick their fans into believing in God. They released a song, Thy Unveiling, that spelt out the revelation beyond all doubt:
Fuck it, we got to tell.
All secrets will now be told
No more hidden messages
…Truth is we follow GOD!!!
We've always been behind him
The carnival is GOD
And may all juggalos find him
We're not sorry if we tricked you.

To me, the interesting thing about this interview wasn't the bit about Thy Unveiling (which was discussed on Mefi a few years ago if I'm not mistaken), but the bit where they explain that scientists are like the mom of the girl you are banging. The girl, presumably, being God's creation. Yeah.

Hasn't this been discussed in all the recent ICP threads? And this article links to an earlier article, which clarifies that the final track from the group's album in 2002 had the shocking revelation that ICP were secret Christians.

This reminds me of the time I found out that ICP were evangelical Christians.

I hate to have to point this out, but the whole facepaint, satanism, Christianity thing was stolen from Alice Cooper. Alice Cooper, however, managed to make a few good albums.

The funny thing is that this interview doesn't reveal anything that people didn't know five years ago, but the reporter sure seems to think that he has a scoop. Maybe "ICP are really religious" is the new "James Brown is dead."

I dunno. Christianity is really broad. Like ...really broad. I almost feel the further you get away from most (not all!) mainstream interpretations of Christianity, you have to get a different name. Like Christ-Fanicers or Saviorettes.

"A giraffe is a fucking miracle. It has a dinosaur-like neck. It's yellow. Yeah, technically an elephant is not a miracle. Technically. They've been here for hundreds of years…"

Andy Kaufman would have bee proud.

I read that interview -- I expected a "twist" wherein they turn out to be intelligent and thoughtful, despite the impression their fans convey. But no, they got me! I was very surprised by their intense dumbness.

Ironically, if it wasn't for Mefi I would know exactly nothing about ICP. I wouldn't care any less though, so that's ok.
