Ur-Editorial about the attacks, (from adequacy.org- I'm not familiar with them- linked via a plastic.com comment). Shades of the Metafilter self-parody; I found it a handy template for every editorial opportunist from Michael Moore to Ann Coulter- perhaps we can just reference this instead of linking yet more lame, shameful editorials from all parts of the political spectrum?
Fucking brilliant. I found these guys back in July myself, and have been back occasionally ever since.
Didn't think of checking in with them on the last few days, though. Thanks for the reminder. The cloud of black despair that had descended on me may be beginning to lift.

Yes, it is a good parody. And yes, America in particular and democracies in general are full of self-important windbags who espouse their own particular brands of "How Things Should Be".
However, while it is our individual choice whether to pay the windbags any attention, I shudder to think of a world without them. In apolitical America, where politicians are so notoriously dislocated from the populace, the windbags are the only vestige we have left of a political discourse.
At least on MeFi we have the option of chiming in - and of popping a rhetorical balloon or two.
