Rebuild It, Bigger!

Rebuild It, Bigger! America will find an appropriate way to mourn. But if we must have a shrine or monument for our remorse, let's put it on the 200th floor, right next to the antiaircraft guns.
I had just finished reading this article elsewhere. Made me laugh for the first time in quite a while. I'm all for it.

I agree in general with the article, but the writer sounds like one of the masterminds behind the Tower of Babel.

IDEA FOR REBUILDING:
Yes, there is an appeal to rebuilding the WTC towers bigger and better than they were.
But guess what? The towers have to be occupied by tenants- real people. How many people would want to work in such a conspicuos and obvious target? These buildings are supposed to stand for more than 100 years. Won't some psycho terrorist some day want to do this again by crashing a plane (or in the future a small starship) into the building?
Ok, if you really want to rebuild something bigger and better, here is my favorite idea:
In the perfect scenario, the construction would be paid for by the countries of Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, and they should be called the World Peace Centers. I know neither of those countries had anything to do with the attack, and I know that we could easily afford to rebuild it ourselves, but I think the financing and the name would tend to annul the supposed "victory" of these terrorists.

Except, waxpancake, that the middle finger doesn't even translate to English culture.

Perhaps Jonah Goldberg could explain to us what the U.S. gets from supporting Isreal -- nah, nobody seems to want to do that.
Keep it as a park. A new building would be such an obvious target and downtown is too crowded and needs a park badly.

That made me smile. I've seen this image several times, and only realized now, thanks to holgate, that it's a massive architectural bird-flipping. Thank you sir.

That's so funny everybody I know thought of building the same thing. At last! We are one people!

Everything coming from the Review is a piece of unadulterated crap.

Everyone said it was daft to build a castle in the swamp, but we built it all the same. It sank into the swamp, so we built a second one, that sank into the swamp. So we built a third one, that burned down, fell over, and then sank into the swamp. But the fourth one stayed up!

My good friend Warren, who posts here occasionally, passed on this idea for a building to replace the WTC towers.
