Scientific Illustration is a Tumblr blog devoted to... well... scientific illustration.
Science, eh? Well this was the final nail in the coffin.
30 more minutes to go. Thanks a lot, brundlefly.

I'm amazed by the illustrations from the Traité complet de l'anatomie de l'homme. I would have never guessed it was from 1831-1854.

Followed, and thanks for the pointer. Here's hoping it doesn't open up to uncurated submission, which seems to be the death-knell for single-topic tumblrs.

This is great & just the sort of thing tumblr is good for. But I wish that they could get some sort of slideshow interface thing going on so you could flick through the pics nice & convenient. C'mon tumblr, even facebook managed it

A friend of mine is a professional botanical artist, she specialises in Gingers and her work is shown around the globe. Apparently it's still standard in most botanical textbooks to use illustrations over photos, which seems a little anachronistic, but it also seems awesome.

rudhraigh: "she specialises in Gingers"
Well, that's an interestingly narrow niche of portraiture.
