Truly outrageous.

I was reallly disappointed in this. Not only was it the (entirely unnecessary) illustration of how things from my childhood haven't aged well at all -- and, ultimately, were mostly crap back when I was a kid in the first place -- but this just isn't nearly as amusing as the honey badger rant.

I was shocked when I learned Jem's singing voice is Britta from Dean and Britta.

Randall uses the same jokes over again. Do you think Randall cares? Randall doesn't give a shit.

Look I know this doesn't have the magic of the honey badger video but I am surprised how well it works. The sort of camp bitchy voice as nature documentary voice over was pretty inspired incongruity here it works (to a lesser extent) for the opposite reason! It meshes well with the dramatic, silly, flamboyance, of the cartoon. I also sort of like the laziness of the whole thing. He pretty much just uses the same script.

I did get the feeling that Randall is far more familiar with Jem than I was expecting.

I was hoping this would somehow include Glenn Danzig + Co but I guess not...

I will forgive him and artw for bringing this narrative travesty to my awareness on condition that he recycles the script for a third outing describing Sarah Palin's bus tour. Bonus points for wokring in the hologram angle and cross-cutting to pictures of Phyllis Schlafly.

a third outing describing Sarah Palin's bus tour.

Now that would be amazing.

Jem et al covering Le Tigre

I'd rather see Jem cover Bikini Kill

That was solidly unfunny. Not even slightly good. I laughed at the Honey Badger thing, but this joke wears out fast, especially without the profanity.

For the first time in my life I'm questioning my very liberal stance about boys playing with dolls.

Heh, how funny - I, in turn, would never have heard of Britta Phillips if not for Jem.

Not sure why she/they've languished in obscurity, though... Actually quite good (in the same genre as Hope Sandoval / Mazzy Star, if slightly more cheery sounding), IMO.

This is terrible. Jiz and the Mammograms is fabulous, however. (Warning, horribly offensive). From the creators of The Goldenshower Girls. (Warning, so horribly offensive I feel guilty every time I watch it.)

The really surprising thing is that this is a genuine paid-for commercial for The Hub, not just a fan-made video. Seems at least somewhat ballsy on their part, given Randall's personality & language.

The Hub appears to have noticed the massive adult fanbase for My Little Pony and Transformers and they're probably hoping for a third lightning strike.

We missed the honey badger post, so all we could think of watching this was SPHINX!

oh come on; it was implied!

I would pay a good amount of money for a subscription to the Hub right now. Something where I can watch it on my computer or phone for somewhere between $4.99 and $9.99/mo. Why are they not taking advantage of the 20 to 30 something nostalgia market?

My favorite bartender put the Hub on the TV Thursday night and we just sat there trying to name all the GI Joe characters. I called bullshit when Quick Kick beat Storm Shadow's ass. I know he's the good guy, but only Snake Eyes should be allowed to beat Storm Shadow. Then Jem came on. I had forgotten it existed and also how much I was into Jem as a little runcible. She had holograms and a cool drive-in secret base and was a huge rock star. I used to think her and Buckaroo Banzai should get married.

As far as the quality, I actually much prefer the old 80's animation style of Jem and Gi Joe versus something like My Little Pony which reminds me nothing so much as crappy flash animation from the 90's.

(Also, if I ever became a drag queen, my drag persona would be inspired by Jem, or possibly one of the Misfits)
