what if my own skin makes my skin crawl?

Lightning dances in my head.
I am not beautiful and I am not magic yet.
I'm a victim, yeah.
I've got news for you honey; I got pregnant with birds who sing prettier than you.
I could be the sunlight in your eyes.
My country bleeding me; I will not stay in your arms.
You have a pool in your chest. Tap it.
Everything is better when you're driving on the median.
There is a natural sound that wild things make when they're bound.

I was trawling for the best live recordings of Tune-Yards, and thought it might make a decent post...

Awesome. Easily two of my favorite albums of the last few years. Thanks!

Thanks for this! I'm going to see her on the 21st, and now I'm even more excited.

(The 'tap it' and 'driving' links are non-album tracks, for those who might be interested.)

They are trying too hard for hipsters.

I clicked on the "victim" link, because I recognized that lyric from hearing it on the radio. My first thought was that it was a band covering that song, because those kids didn't look rock and roll.

I take it back, and apologize for my first reaction. That was amazing. That was rock and roll.

Off to watch the rest of them!

It's nice to hear someone sing unaffectedly, with directness and skill.

Yeah, I'm picking up certain things she is putting down.

I just discovered tUne-yArDs a few weeks ago via this Sound Opinions interview, a worthwhile listen. They've been in near daily rotation for me since.

Oh, I loved the first album so much, and the second one too, and saw her perform a few months ago in a small club here in Vancouver. She just killed the room, it was fantastic. Going to see them again in November. Thanks for this post!

I saw (her? Them?) play in London at the start of the summer. Amazingly good - and quite a packed venue.

I would just like to add the previous band Merrill Garbus was in, Sister Suvi, was also wonderful. Different sound, but also very much worth the listen.

Just saw them perform on Monday! The tickets sold out just before I went to buy them, but I hung around outside the venue for an hour and a half and managed to get one of ten tickets available at the door. It was a fantastic show, and included a couple new songs, too.
