He may have called it "Alimation" because "aliments" is a French word for food (actually closer to "sustenance" or "feed").
At least, I think that's right. My French is too crappy to say for sure.

Is the rotation rate carefully matched to the frame rate of the camera or is there some computer wizardry involved?
