You ever get so high and dream there was a marijuana review site in the style of Yelp? Dream no more, because there's Leafly. Find the strain that best suits you (no surprise that they all seem to be highly rated for treating stress, but only six are good for PMS) or a nearby dispensary. Read reviews of new strains like Woody Kush, rumored to be specifically created for Woody Harrelson or the insightful reviews of Herojuana: 3RD DEGREE BLACK BELT BUD, Dankest weed I've ever smoked, and Found a little container of a gram of this great shit under the seat in my car on a shitty day. Like any Web 2.0 worth it's weight in salt kief they have an API, login via Facebook & Twitter, and an iPhone & Android App.
Ah Facebook login. I predict some unfortunate oversharing.

Yeah, this. I'll browse around to see where dispensaries pop up and what reviews they get, but there's no way I'm putting in my Facebook credentials. I figure the mobile apps are safe since the telecoms hand everything over to the feds, anyway.

The thing about this is... anyone can "invent" a strain and give it a name and sell it around as such. And more likely than not, that's only going to exist for a few harvests, and that's it. It's a cute idea, but it's not really going to be of any value because these things don't really stick around in the marketplace long enough for reviews to be of any use to anyone.
That's true.
I did use Leafly once while in SF and it was handy enough, but it seems like once you find your favorite place, you're pretty much good to go. I can't imagine making a tour of all the dispensaries in one's area, since you have to go through all the paperwork and rigamarole at every single place. I wouldn't necessarily want to be on the books at more than two places, personally.

I don't think these guys are doctors...Man, that stoner in that weed review video so stoned. Except, he seemed stoned before he even started smoking, I wonder if he got stuck that way.

Yeah, and the converse of this is if a particular strain—I've had this issue with "Lamb's Breath/Bread" for instance—is really popular eventually several dispensaries will catch on and call whatever they have on hand Lamb's Breath, or even the same dispensary will just call whatever they have most of Lamb's Breath when they run out of the original. You have to actually look at the weed.

I live close enough to one of the major weed highways (Melrose) that I just took a Sunday afternoon and went up and down the street until I found a dispensary I liked. All of those agreements say that you have to stay exclusive (since they're co-ops and ostensibly they rely on your purchases/membership to budget, etc.) but the different dispensaries are owned by only a few different cartels. Anyway, once you find a place, you're right, you're pretty much set.

I've found that all strains treat the harshest symptoms of PMS. My wife may not agree with that, however.

I think there is a need for a reinheitsgebot style system as well as something like the wine appellation laws. Hopefully one day we'll get our collective heads out of our collective asses and regulate this stuff so that you actually can rely on a strain brand name. I'll have the humboldt sour, fall '11 vintage please.
