Fearing cacodemonomania from jettatura, the acersecomic leptosome set off a biblioclasm of his scripturient neogenesis on ktenology, unwittingly bringing about hamartia.

I knew a few of these, which made me unreasonably happy. But not "ultracrepidarian". I am so using that one at the first opportunity.

From "Ne sutor ultra crepidam", presumably - 'the cobbler doesn't go beyond shoes' more or less.

Is 'welter' an unusual word?

Nice stuff.

Great drawings! But I would agree that welter isn't an unusual word. Or at least, it's the only one I knew.

I clicked expecting yet another bunch of hipster "I have a copy of Illustrator" minimalist posters. What I found was delightful, very well-done and thoughtful. Great find!

Very cool. But I wish there were phonetic spellings so I don't have to guess on pronunciation.

Gorgonize is such a beautiful word.

Fanfaronade is actually pretty common in Spanish (fanfarronear, fanfarrón). Who would have thought English had it, also.

Quockerwodger
A rare nineteenth-century word for a wooden toy which briefly became a political insult.

What better time than now to revive this one!

You should ask for it to be added as a flag for AskMe

Well, that's the next thread up. Except with Photoshop.

Those were beautiful. And such wonderful words.

I have whole weeks where I'm a bit yonderly; now I know what to call it.

I knew Zugzwang from chess.

Very nice. I ran across enantiodromia for the first time last week, in John Perry Barlow’s introduction to a business book about the Grateful Dead. Hamartia, neogenesis, welter, and zugzwang are quite familiar, too, but now acersecomic, ktenology, quockerwodger, and ultracrepidarian have become my new favorites.
