The World of C86

The World of C86 showcases the bright, abstracted artwork of Matt Lyon.
If portfolio websites aren't your preferred way to view his work, there's also tumblr and flickr.
His motifs run from rooftops to florals, typography to mandalas, but there is always juicy color, lush texture, and distinct style.

Thanks for this. His work strikes me as very familiar, like I'd seen it a billion times before but had never had it pointed out to me.

Apparently nothing to do with C86, though, which confused me.

It's kind of Yellow Submariney, or Dylan-Glaseresque; in other words, a great late 60s, early 70s throbbing vibe.

I came in here making the same assumption as pipeski. He does list the Smiths as an influence on his About page which makes me think the name might still be deliberate.
Very cool artwork! I need to close all these windows now though or I'm going to spend the whole day clicking one image after the next. Dude is really prolific!

This is how I imagine the King of All Cosmos sees everything, all the time.
How disturbing.

Well, I guess the C64 was last millennium, so maybe the human race can handle another "C[X][X-2], where X is an even, single-digit integer" name. OK, we'll allow it.

Hey, wow, you just figured out for me why I like his stuff so much that I got over my internal hurdles and made my first FPP. I am now imagining rolling up everything in the "Houses etc" Flickr set to some seriously groovy music.

Personally, I think C89 really nails it. C11 is for blasphemers. C86 never made it out of working group.
