Marc Morrone is a pet shop owner from the Bronx who spun a small cable-access show about pet care into a Martha Stewart Omnimedia-backed pet-advice career. But he first became known for his call-in show in which he gave advice while surrounded by a menagerie of moving, falling, pooping animals.
...a menagerie of falling animals, you say?

No easy way to link to them, but occasionally, Marc Maron of the WTF Podcast occasionally gets letters intended for Marc Morrone and does his best to answer them.

fiercekitten and I used to watch his show every week.

In the "falling" link there are several things that you will go to Hell for laughing at and I am pretty sure I laughed at at least three of them.
I hope that at the very least he got a bigger desk.

Bestest moment? Puppy tongue + tortoise (1:28 in the falling video). What a great way to start a Friday, thanks The Whelk!

Dr. Pet Vet was more my speed, but I don't think he or Igor ever used the delightful word "doody".

Oh man, I almost feel bad for how hard I laughed at the cat falling in the fish tank. Almost.

Worst moment was another puppy tongue + turtle thing at the end of the video. That whining cut right through me.

By far one of the most messed up moments of UHF....(as linked above)...but one of the most hilarious, too.
Was this show the inspiration for the joke in the movie?

The librarian at my elementary school was big on this.

Oh my sweet lord - That was simultaneously one of the best and most horrific things I have ever seen. Who came up with the genius idea of piling all those random critters on a desk?

I once called in to Marc's pet advice show on Sirius to ask a housebreaking question about a new puppy. This was in the early days of Sirius, and the Martha Stewart channel I'm guessing wasn't necessarily one of its most popular (this was 2006, so I think most subscribers were probably there for Howard Stern who had just joined the company) as I was on air in about 30 seconds.
Admittedly I was on a cell phone, so maybe the problem was on my end, but I literally could not hear more than a word of two he was saying to me (it just sounded like garbled jibberish), which would have been fine except for the fact he kept asking me follow up questions. Not wanting to make a big production out of it, I just kept saying "Yes" to everything he asked, having no idea if that even made sense as a response.

I LOVE Marc Morrone's show. He knows EVERYTHING about animals. AND I love watching the jumble of pets on the table stepping on and over each other. You haven't lived until you've seen a kitten stepping on a chinchilla's face.

I've seen this before but wow. I think my absolute favorite is the Saga of Brian from the third video in the OPP. Gripping drama.

The funny thing was, his segments on Martha Stewart's show (the old non-audience one) were exactly like this except it was bathed in Martha Stewart lighting in her fancy kitchen set. So you'd go from Martha showing you how to obsessively label and organize your freezer tupperware to Marc Morrone with a counter full of birds/kittens/turtles/etc talking quickly while getting peed on. That was great! (And I think shows Martha has more flair and humor than people give her credit for. She saw Marc knew his shit, and she put him on her show).
