got milk?

Photorealism has been highlighted here on the blue, where 2D work is made to look 3 dimensional. But what about the opposite? Artist Alex Meade's live-model photographs look like paintings.
She collaborates with performance artist Sheila Vand. Their website also includes some perspective-distorting behind the scenes photos, as well as a brief video.

My god, it's full of milk.
(I love the crop of "Deviate." Something about her eyes and the pink paint.)

If anybody feels like doing a cheapo version of this on their own (turn photos into paintings-ish) there is an iPhone/iPad app called Glaze that's pretty fun to play with.

Mango Lassi and nipples painted on nipples. Humans are amazing.

Oh neat, I knew Alex when I was growing up and it's been cool to see her work develop!

It's worth pointing out that she's not quite making photos into paintings, she's painting the actual people to look like paintings and then photographs them. There are some really stunning shots of her subjects doing things like riding the Metro, where the strangeness of a painted realistic face really stands out.

These are really stunning (despite my niggling vegan aversion to the milk...)
Thanks for posting!

I liked it. I do hope that, for the model's sake, they heated up the milk before making her lie in it.

Definitely a different vibe compared to when Annie Liebovitz put Whoopi Goldberg in a tub of milk.

Double, and the artist professionally goes by Alexa, not Alex.

It looks like the milk paintings are a new series and not covered by the previous post, so I think this post is okay.

I think this "making of" pic is actually more effective than the finished pieces.
