Richard Herring's Leicester Square Theatre Podcast interview with Edgar Wright is an interesting listen - goes over a lot of Wright's early life and career including the rivalry between Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole and as a bonus finishes with Herring describing the most disgusting thing he's even seen on the internet.

I'm pretty stoked for this movie, but I accidentally binged on too many trailers and interviews, and I think I now know more about the movie than I'd like to know before going in. Curse curiosity.

It was really the trailer analyses on Bleeding Cool that did me in. They managed to suss out a lot of secrets. If you enjoy speculation more than you dislike spoilers: here's the first analysis.

So ... no spoilers, but this is out now in the UK and I saw it last night. I thought it was very very good, possibly the best of the trilogy. It continues the themes of the other two 'Cornetto' films but is also different, from a slightly older mindset. Pegg and Frost are brilliant, as are all the others. Its no secret that its a film about a pub crawl, and I think it might be the most drunken action movie ever. The action sequences are as kinetic as anything Wright has done, and the choreography is amazing. The sci-fi element is also quite interesting, with some ripe comedy angles, but I can't really discuss that. There is a scene that takes place in a pub toilet that is a complete WTF scene in every sense of the word.
The soundtrack is also great. Edgar Wright was born in the same year as me and evidently was listening to similar stuff when he was 16. For example, Silver Bullet features, as does the rather obscure Mark Summers - Summer's Magic. There's also a lot of more well known early 90s stuff.
As with the rest of the trilogy though, this is actually a character film about friends, with a genre movie layered on top of it. And the characters and relationships are all done brilliantly and hilariously. There is also a Cornetto, of course. Watch out for it.

Hot Fuzz is one of my favorite movies of all time, so I was really excited to see World's End on premier night. Without giving anything away, I can say that I was really excited after having seen it, too. It wasn't exactly what I was expecting, but it was a great movie, and left me with a lot to discuss with my girlfriend. Pegg, Frost and Wright are an unbeatable trio, and they have created yet another film that is completely unlike anything I have ever seen (in a good way!). And that? That is brilliant.

I'm just back from the cinema and I have to say I didn't enjoy it as much as memebake. It was okay, not a patch on Hot Fuzz which is my favourite Pegg/Frost combo.
I actually really liked the opening, pre-blank section, a lot more than the rest of the film. The character stuff was great the rest, well, it felt a little meh to be honest.

the rivalry between Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole
Wow this brings back memories. Got in a shouting match with a English exchange student friend once about the very existence of caves in Cheddar Gorge. I visited there, toured the caves. She was like, "Cheddar's a Gorge, not a cave. Wookey Hole is a cave." Over and over again. THERE'S A DAMNED CAVE IN CHEDDAR DAMNED GORGE I WAS THERE. I guess now they compete for tourist dollars.

So, there's a highly anticipated film that's out in another country a full month before it opens in America? I would point, and laugh, and shout "Now you know my pain, America!" except that I'd be shocked if it even got theatrical release in Japan.
The good news is that Mrs. Ghidorah really enjoyed Hot Fuzz, so I should be able to convince her to give this a shot. When it comes out on DVD in Japan. Sometime in 2016.

The fact that this movie has been made is proof that we don't live in a cold and godless universe.
The fact that we have to wait another month for its release does.
It is a paradox for the great theologians and philosophers of our time.

I can't match your pain, but Pegg, Frost, and Wright walked the red carpet at the Melbourne premiere July 16, and the film doesn't actually come out here until August 1.
