Pranksters at Yahoo?

Pranksters at Yahoo? Something strikes me about this Yahoo Winter Vacation Deals flash ad that sometimes appears on the right hand side of news story pages like this one. Is there something going on here, or do I need to have my (ahem) head examined? (Flash required)
I studied commercial art years ago. We were told by a visiting ad exec that nothingis ever in an ad by accident.

Sometimes a snowy outcropping of rock is just a snowy outcropping of rock.

Oh, I get it... The outcropping is phallic, isn't it. It takes an imaginitive mind to make a penis out of that poorly drawn flash animation.

uh looks to me like they are leaning next to each other on a chilly snowlift.
and as for phallic symbols, don't look now but there's one hovering over your left mouse button. goodness gracious, have you no shame?

I clicked, I zoomed, I looked. Yawn. What's with all the penis fuss lately?

If you can ignore the rock outcropping, look at the side of the mountain-looks like an outline of the back of a leg starting at the butt.
No evil mind required......

Fodder for a (very)slow news day... How long before Wired or News.com pick up on this?

Sex and death? Um, if you put on your glasses/contacts, the guy is on a snowboard, he isn't plummeting to his death. And if I were on a lift I'd probably be clinging on to my neighbor for dear life too.

I dunno, seems like you guys are really stretching on this one. The ad is obtuse, but I don't pick up anything sexual about it.

Uh, guys...?
We're clearly NOT the market they're targeting with their ads.
Aren't you glad?

no phallic-inspiration here, and i'm the kind of perv that would notice :)
however this post has given me a great idea for a subliminal advertising meme site - 'am i dong or not?'

What I meant about sex and death selling is how they are put subliminally into ads all the time.

Alastair McIntosh's paper From Eros to Thanatos: Cigarette Advertising’s Imagery of Violation as an Icon into British Cultural Psychopathology. The images are very slow to load (even via cable), but well worth waiting for.

Of course, it doesn't always work. I read "kill your family" as a modifier for interesting, like "a stay up all night interesting book."

Maybe if you wrote it like this, Frasermoo:

Just a thought.
