Want to redesign the Senate Web site?

Want to redesign the Senate Web site? The Senate is soliciting proposals for a new CMS and complete overhaul of the current site, which hasn't changed much (or added many features) lately. It does not include individual senators' or committees' sites.

Bummer. I would have liked to have seen something like this (previously posted on MeFi) included for consideration.

CMS? Let's get them using Movable Type!
I often wonder what my reps. are thinking. I would like to see a Senate 'blog. Permalinks should be a right, not a privilege! (The link didn't work for me either.)

I can't open the link either. I referred this to Dave Winer, maybe they can use Manila.

My apologies for the non-working link - perhaps more government sites could benefit from a sensible redesign. You can find the RFP by searching Commerce Business Daily for "Senate web site" - it should be the first result.

What about using Drupal (powers drop.org, "web and community plumbing") or Scoop (powers kuro5hin.org, "technology and culture from the trenches")? They could use the open submission queue to vote on new proposals, to sort the wheat from the chaff and to increase their signal-to-noise ratio... ;-)
