I say nay.
Spike Jonze is not King Midas, particularly when he's merely one of three producers.

Ah, but what if they get Charlie Kaufman for the screenplay?

While I will admit to having laughed at Jackass (and to having ogled some of those half-naked skater boys), for some reason this brings to mind a quote from Buffy the Vampire Slayer: "I'd say we've hit bottom. Oh, no, here's a lower place."
Hopefully there will be a Merchant-Ivory flick or something playing at the multiplex at the same time the Jackass movie opens. If only to prevent the entertainment world's yang from entirely swallowing its yin. Heh.

Screenplay? We're talking about a Jackass movie. Where would a screenplay fit in?

I think "Jackass" would make "Freddy Got Fingerd" oscarworthy.

Damn straight he is. Being John Malkovich anyone? But any time that I see a film promoted by the fact that its producer is a really good film-maker I immediately think, "Well, here comes another shitter."

And Spike Jonze was always attached to Jackass. You can see him laughing in the background of several of their video spots.

Is it wrong to hope that this will catapult one or more participants into the Darwin Awards?

You'd think somebody would have noticed them by now.

It strikes me as incredibly absurd that someone would use a quote from Buffy the Vampire Slayer to belittle the quality of another television show. That's like quoting a Backstreet Boys song to insult N'Sync fans. Pah!

Why does Paramount/Viacom/MTV/Nick films make a decent movie from one of their properties like, say, ...Invader Zim?
