The return of Sid

The fact that Sid's carpet is the same as the carpet in the Shining lead me to some pretty astonishing revelations. Buy my Ebook to find out more, no cops please.

Call me old fashioned, but putting a listicle in a Imgur gallery seems like a super-weird way to convey information to me.

Lies. The movie came out three years ago. Also I am in my twenties and I just got the first 24 bit video card for my PowerMac and can finally use Photoshop 3 to its full capacity!

Totally! I searched for an original but as far as I know this was in fact originally posted straight to Imgur. Weird but I guess more and more common!

So ... I wonder what the in-universe story is about why the couple from Up sent Andy a postcard? Their nephew, maybe?

This connects straight up to the Pixar theory, right? (Also, and previously.)

It's worth it just to learn that Sid is the garbage man in Toy Story 3, imgur listicle or no.

I love that Sid is the garbage man in Toy Story 3. While Andy heads off to college to be saddled with crushing debt and questionable job prospects, Sid gets great benefits, a secure job, and a pension that he can retire on at 50. Who's the dummy now?

Imgur gets more traffic than Reddit, according to a previous article i read somewhere (probably imgur?)

Man, I know we tool using primates are hard wired to recognize patterns even when they aren't there and are specifically disavowed.

But the Pixar unified universe? I want to believe.

Call me old-fashioned, but referring to random trivia as "easter eggs" seems weird to me.

Just to be the pedant, the postcard would be addressed to the couple from Up, not from them. You don't put a return address on postcards (or, at least, you don't put it in that addressing space).

Well, some of them are easter eggs but yeah, most of them are random bits of trivia. Which was stated in the post and on the images.

Sid's toy modification compulsion has blossomed into a full blown passion. He took the garbage collector gig to have access to more raw material. Eventually, he mounts art shows in NYC, LA, San Francisco. He becomes a founding member of Survival Research Laboratories and is the toast of Burning Man. He settles down, thanks to finally getting an ADHD evaluation and getting on the meds he so desperately needed as a child. He gets married and starts a special effects company in LA, and one day will produce a few of his own films, even garnering 2 Oscar nominations.

Andy does his taxes. He never does understand why Andy keeps that stupid cowboy doll on the shelf in his office, nor does he understand his own ongoing deep compulsion to destroy it. Every time he goes to see Andy to review his books, the tension created in Sid's psyche by the presence of the Woody doll is palpable and he wonders if this is purposeful on Andy's part.

Love these films. I'm a grown man and am happy to watch them at any time, day or night.

I'm surprised they didn't mention the theory that Andy's parents had just gotten divorced.

And, yes, many of these should be reclassified as "trivia" rather than "Easter eggs."

It's my recollection that Toy Story ends with Andy moving, and actually quite some distance away, possibly even cross-country though I don't think the distance is ever specified.

So is there an in-film explanation for how Sid ends up collecting trash in the same neighbourhood as Andy's family by Toy Story 3, including but not limited to me just not having the details on the move right? Or would it come down to a fan theory?

I would love a DJ Bluejay toy or T-shirt.
This is one of those things that makes a series great. Tiny details that hint at a much bigger world.

My brother and I spent the entire fast food/support group short pointing to a growing list of made-up toys and whispering "No, I want that one!" to each other. It's one of my fonder memories with him.

Maryr: I know right! Lizard Wizard! Ghost burger! Grappling Hook Gary! Condor Man was a real thing but I'm not sure there were toys. I loved condor man as a kid. Saw it recently. Unwatchable. blech!
