Axon: A Neuron building game.
Seems like it would be fun with a mouse, but man with this trackpad it's just making me angry.

I'm glad my neurons grow without any conscious input from me, or I'd be a quivering mass of cone cells, able to see but not process...or type...or play this game...
18,694µm was my best after a few goes. The powerups are fun!

17,145 on try three. Reds are the problem. If this was on iOS I'd buy it now.

33577 so far. You don't really have to click the cells, just in the general direction of one and if it's near it'll go there. That takes away some of the pressure. I wish the enemy dude didn't seem to respawn so far ahead shortly after you freeze it, like why even bother freezing if it's just gonna get ahead of you again.

Some background for Mefites who aren't psychologists: Axon is actually the subject of a recent Psych Science paper; if you played this previously you may have contributed to the study of skill acquisition! A brief write-up is available from the Association for Psychological Science if you'd like to learn more.

All the clicking reminded me of Cookie Clicker and I refuse to go back to that dark time in my life.

I can teach you to master this game, but first you must master this: Ax on, Ax off.

This was neat. As a game, it sort of reminded me of Winterbells.

A yellow chain shot me onto a dead end on an otherwise respective 23XXX. I'm a bit annoyed.

Wow, having read that paper I can see why Psych Science has a bad reputation w.r.t. statistics -- the authors hardly explain any of their analysis choices, nor do they give basic summary stats of the raw data. Weird!
Fun game though.

I think it would be better on a touchscreen, actually. Small mouse fast mouse movements are hell on the wrist..

Monsieur Caution, I think Winterbells is a bit harder.
Nevertheless, my neurons are a bit tired. Perhaps it's time for a neuron renewing nap.
