Ok, so I just watched that again the other night! But I can't figure out how Rex Manning Day got official. It's not on the Wiki, and http://www.rexmanningday.org/ says it was in April. AND WHAT?!! They made a whole video? The fade to black and white around 2:00 - 2:10 and back to color also rocked my world.

Oh, I didn't realize there was an actual Rex Manning Day. I was just riffing on the repeated line from the film.

Did anyone else buy the soundtrack only to be disappointed that this song wasn't included, even as a hidden track?

Oh, it's already there. How'd I miss it?

But anyway.

I've been saying, "I'm guided by a force much greater than luck," since high school thanks to this movie.

I added it for you. :-)

Ha! I figured I missed it, since it was only a couple of minutes before I noticed it was there.

Who knows where thoughts come from? They just appear.

I have never seen the whole video before, and it's just ... excellent ... in all its Rex Manning gloriousness. I'd put it up there with the PoP! Goes My Heart video from Music and Lyrics for being so god awfully fantastic.

I must have watched Empire Records a couple dozen times by now.

More than once I've had the experience of trying to communicate my love of the movie to people who didn't encounter it at precisely that moment in their teenage years when they first realized that they wanted to work in a record store. It turns out to be completely impossible. I'm not really sure why, though.

I mean (courtesy IMDB):
Joe: Where's the money?

Lucas: Joe, the money is gone.

Joe: Yeah, I know it's gone... but where's it gone to?

Lucas: Atlantic City.

Joe: Atlantic City?... Is it coming back from Atlantic City?

Lucas: Oh, I don't think so, Joe.

Joe: What's it doing in Atlantic City, Lucas?

Lucas: ...Recirculating.

Denise: Besides, I heard that song was about his dog.

Preston: It's not about a dog. It's about a woman named Amanda. Who the hell names their dog Amanda?

Hey! Hey Mark! You love Gwar, why don't you join the band?

Aw man. Mark, man, you play a mean guitar, man. It's really a shame that you must die!

Everything about this film is completely cheesy and unrealistic.

I will watch it anytime it is on television, no matter how far into it it is when I find it. Same with THE CRAFT. And CAN'T HARDLY WAIT. Must be something about Robin Tunney and Ethan Embry.

Shit is wonderful comfort food.

I love this movie so much. I may, hypothetically, have Rex Manning Day as a recurring date on my calendar. On which I wish everyone on all of my social media outlets a happy Rex Manning Day and enjoy the ensuing chaos which is 50% OH MY GOD I LOVE THAT MOVIE I DON'T HAVE TO EXPLAIN MY ART TO YOU WARREN and 50% "Um...are you people all high?"

Some year this will stop being funny, but I think it's going to take a while.

I love Empire Records, but goddamn, if it didn't have me spending a lot of time in my youth searching for that version of "Seems" by Queen Sarah Saturday. (The album version I did get is pretty different.)

Yes! And also wonder why the album version of "Sugar High" sucked compared to the movie version. (And baffled that they changed "making out on that old pullout couch" to "crashing out on that old pullout couch" for the movie.)

YES. I was seriously disappointed that that song wasn't on the soundtrack. I spent much of my earliest days on the internet trying to find out what that song even WAS!
