RIYL DJ /rupture (Eclectic DJ Mix Monday #2)

Hieroglyphic Being (Jamal Moss), head of Mathematics Records, is an old school Chicago House DJ who jams together a messy clump of styles to try to keep things "giddy, impatient and unpredictable." Sun Ra, Peter Gabriel, Native American chants, Brian Eno, and Mr. Fingers all bump up comfortably next to each other. To get you through your Monday afternoon...
- start with his 40-minute First True Language of The Universe mix, recorded at Soul Jazz Records's Sounds of the Universe store
- Follow that up with his his 2-hour 45-minute long Mix for FACT ("We couldn’t bring ourselves to edit it down.") recorded at The Music Box in Lisbon.
- Round out the day with an 80-minute mix and interview for the Keep It Deep Blog, and it'll be time to drive home.
Hieroglyphic was in Vancouver this past weekend for New Forms Festival. I caught him at 3am and his set was fully of bouncy quirk. Lots of fun.

Sounds amazing. Unfortunately, if all of his sets are at 3 AM, I'm thinking I'll never get the chance for a live show...

He was in Seattle last Thursday and played from ~11-1:30am, so I guess it depends where you are.
He played loud as fuck, tho. So grateful I brought earplugs.

I should add that his Worst DJ Ever mix is also quite good, if you can scare yourself up a copy somewhere on the internet...

Thank you. I am literally lost now that DJ /rupture's weekly radio show/podcast is no more (and I listened to all of the episodes).
