Wow, that takes me back. Interestingly, I saw this post while waiting for a battery to charge so I could install a camera with a wide-angle (not quite fisheye) lens on a robot. It was obviously destiny*!

Once you use the fisheye, well you just can't stop. It used to be kind of expensive but then the price dreeaaaooaaarrrps.

All the ladies and mens, they know everything is better with a fisheye lens.

I like the fake YouTube "more videos" collage as a medium-specific adaptation to the hidden Flash hotspots in the regular cartoon.

Why is "Strongbad actual" so funny to me? it makes me think of like, some official military chatter. Like "galactica actual" in BSG.

I can see and hear Edward James Olmos saying this, and it is terrific.

My favorite part (and it was a hard choice):
"Oh, look at that! I've got a considerable rear shelf!"
"THAT MAKES ME UNCOMFORTABLE!"

When I first saw this on YouTube, it was at the nebulous watch count of 301+ (and 800+ thumbs-up). I watched it again a couple of hours ago and it was at 16K. Now, it's at 30K. To think, I saw it when it was nebulously three digits.

It was just nice to see that The Cheat hadn't sold out and gone all commercial and soft on us. He's still got those mad, raw production chops.

One of the links after the video (the real ones, not the awesome-looking fake ones before the easter eggs) is a SBEmail I missed the first time, #190: Licensed. Ah, the lack-of-memories.

Not so much a treatise on rap videos than one on those directed by Hype Williams.

I watched the Flash one, so I went to the YouTube video just so see it.
That Strong Bad centipede makes me slightly uncomfortable.

RE: Hype Williams
"A signature style used by Williams throughout the vast majority of his videos ... was the Fisheye lens ... however, it was dropped by 2003, when he experienced his lowest level of production activity since the beginning of his career as a music video director."
I'm not sure I'm parsing this correctly, but it sounds like its saying he stopped getting directing gigs from fisheye lens overuse.
