Yeah, this isn't really a suitable bot for MetaFilter.

Have you ever wanted to pretend the mods are removing tweets from your timeline? Well, now you can!
[via mefi projects]
Kind of already being discussed in the existing barbie thread
Worth it for that one alone.

This gets my vote for the coveted title of "Most Convoluted Twitter Client Of All."

(That is, the mods delete a post and fill in what they want the tweet to be for the reason. Rube Goldberg would approve.)

I would imagine some sort of ticking time-bomb scenario in which a mod must tweet something or else a kitten won't get a treat, but they only have access to the Metafilter moderator tools... and for some reason the only FPP they can delete is the one for CAPS LOCK DAY.

I would imagine some sort of [...] scenarioOk, who leaked the script for MeFiMovie? That bit was gonna be all AN M. NIGHT SHYAMALAN FILM.

Too bad, now I really want to see this article.

The Chandler stuff seems to be a messy distraction to an otherwise good post. Maybe try again with a slight reframe tomorrow?
I don't disagree, but he was one of the six main characters. It seems weird to ignore him.
I mean, Could it be any weirder to ignore him?

If you're curious about the posts themselves, there's the deleted posts blog, too.

I can't let a deleted posts thread go by without shouting out to the departed puke & cry, who ran the original Deleted Thread blog.

Cool project - I really didn't like that there weren't links and attributions, at first - it means I have to trundle over to http://mefideleted.blogspot.com/ to look 'em up.
However, if people like the poetry/humor of just putting the text in - who am I to argue?
This was done in coordination with Mr. Matt and Mr. Cortex, right?
Nice job.

This feels like it could be a gold mine for MetaFilter taglines.
MetaFilter: It is neat, but we saw it before.

At a Portland meetup last month I had the chance to run the idea past mathowie and cortex and now I've followed through.
The project uses (with permission) a feed from the MetaFilter Deleted Posts blog

Hey, thanks for posting my project, Going To Maine—I'm glad people seem to be enjoying it!
I was on the fence about linking back to the original deleted posts but this bot is supposed to be more about the collective voice of the mods than about the collection of stuff-that-just-won't-fly. I did run it past mathowie and cortex (I believe my words were "is this the kind of project that could get me banned?") because some deleted posts really don't need any more attention. Our mods do a great job and I'd hate to make more work for them.
Funny fact: when I started the bot running a week ago it took a few hours to run through the backlog of deleted posts available on the Deleted Posts blog's feed. Several of the deletion reasons were "Double" but Twitter didn't let all of these through ... because they looked like doubles.

Related, though a self-link: the MeFite friends on my trivia team encouraged me to expand to Ask MetaFilter, which I have now done with @askmedeleted.

Every time @askmedeleted shows a message about how a question would be better suited to metatalk, I rush over expecting some drama. Every time, I am disappointed. Stupid metatalk queue.
