French cartoonist Boulet creates a sweet tale for St. Valentine's day. Slightly NSFW.

Delightful. Thank you.

Very sweet is right.
Though Orion's Belt was one of the few asterisms I could identify reliably, and I'm sure going to think about it differently the next time I see it.

I have him on my RSS feed. This is one of the best things he has done, which is saying something. He is a real talent...

Uplifting, funny, and sad at the same time. Sweet Valentines day story without being too sappy. Good point about "heroes" at the end too.
Also, I wonder how many people would be able to tell the story behind Orion if prompted...I would venture not many. Another piece of trivia to look up, gonna go do that now.

Heavy Lights of January is one of my favorites. With Boulet there are a lot of favorites though.

Well, that was adorable. And the NSFW bit was not at all what I was expecting, given Zeus' reputation.

Boulet has pretty much equaled Bill Watterson in my heart, which is no easy feat. What a gem!

Not the least amazing thing about this is that it's a 24-hour comic, done at the Angoulême comics festival.

Boulet is nuts. I refuse to believe that his 24-hour comics were actually done in 24 hours. Not because I deny his talent. Just because ... who can compete with that? How can someone be that good? It's really not fair.
But everyone should read his work because it's amazing. We all love Boulet. He's ridiculous in the best way. Everything I read of his, I just marvel and wonder how it's even possible.

At the end of this one is a little video of his process. No sketches, pencil work, straight to ink then watercolor.

Boulet wins at 24 hour comics. Every other cartoonist can just give up and quit.

Boulet is my favorite living European author. My favorite is actually the incredibly cynical "War of the Worlds", but this cartoon is really sweet.

That was wonderful! I almost skipped it because of the NSFW, but it is such a small detail that I wouldn't have noticed.

The amusing thing about all this talk about Boulet's undoubtedly ungodly talent is that he's made reference a couple of times to another french cartoonist, Reno, and how much better Reno is than him at drawing. There's a lesson in there somewhere I think.
