I thought the heart shape would just get squished into a little blob. That was cool.

What is it called when you have an ASMR response to the tactile quality of candy making? This is awesome just to watch.

Their website says they have candies with little cat faces and ones with panda faces. I think I might just visit.

I'd also recommended the film on Teddy Gray's, a very traditonal British sweets manufacturers, from this previous post (the original link is coming up Private Video now)

Are there special candy-stretching gloves? He switches to a pair of black gloves just for the stretching bit.

I posted this over a year ago on ribbon candy, which in turn prompted commenters to post their own hypnotic candy making vids.

I LURVE making candy, but man it can be scary: if that hot sugar gets on your skin it is not funny. Seriously, I got a fairly serious burn the first time I tried it. Didn't stop me from doing it again, though, a bunch of times.

That was unexpectedly tense! You could really sense the need for hurry, as the candy began to cool and harden, and the quick work with the shears, the water sponging, and the gloves all added to the surgical atmosphere. Gripping stuff!

I don't think there's that much danger of cooling -- usually the part where they're working the candy is done on a heated surface that keeps the candy at the temperature they need to work it.

Heat lamps are also frequently used. Very helpful!

Man, my hands just ACHE watching them work the scissors through increasingly thicker slabs of candy.

This was fascinating. May well prompt a visit to their website.

This is quite intriguing, but watching it gives me curious, fleeting tooth pains.

A friend brought this kind of candy back from Australia after commenting on the lack of this type of shop in the states. It was the best hard candy I'd had in quite sometime! Sent this to her for an upcoming trip to Montreal.
