I am so glad you posted this and I came upon it. Both the story behind the article and the article itself. I will be eating a sleeve of double stuff Oreos tonight in Mr. Waddell's honor/memory.

As someone who makes regular arguments for the value of oral history, this is the best bit of evidence I have ever read. Thank you, Cole Waddell, for writing this. I wish you could have written more...

Gosh, that's so sweet and sad. I'm not sure if regret having read the second link first or not. Then again, it was actually rather nice reading the original story with tears in my eyes.
