They had all the 'he mainly play's dads... but look at him now' stuff when the movie was doing the rounds but I was pretty amused as I knew him mainly for his awesome J. Jonah Jameson and Schillinger in Oz... Fletcher didn't come out of nowhere. But all of them had some nuance to them and the Oscar was well deserved.
