It's funny how this kicks in. I'm not sure that kitten is really copying the mother so much as having behavior triggered. My cat is a little odd from being taken from his mother too early, and I used to have to wash his ears for him because his face washing procedure didn't get above his eyes. Then, after he was about 18 months old, bam! ear washing badge achieved!

That is a really cute kitten, however.

My cat never quite picked up the thing where she's supposed to lick a paw and then wash her head with it. Instead she does this thing where she rubs a paw on her head and simultaneously licks at the air futilely. We call it "doing the stupid", as in " Aww, look, she's doing the stupid again." I need to catch it on video sometime.
