Uhoh! Leggo my napster!

Uhoh! Leggo my napster! So I just tried to load up Napster, and it told me that my connection to the server was refused. None of the people I've talked to have been able to get on either. Could this be the end of Napster? Killed in the night while nobody was watching? The site doesn't say anything, but grrrr, I want my pirated music!
I've found that they've been having lots of server troubles lately.
Damned Napster. Denying us the sweet illegal tunes in our time of need!

I think you should demand your money back.

Indeed.
I started having problems last weekend. It came back, but wouldn't ever accept my password. I signed up again, and it connected ok...

the napster servers have always been pretty sketchy. best bet is to download napigator and use one of the alternate server networks, like opennap or mynapster.
not that i, umm, encourage napster use or anything.

i've had the same problem for about three weeks... i thought it was a firewall through my university network but i know people here who can get on fine.
and i never downloaded any metallica.

The password not accepted thing is actually quite common. I read the Naspter FAQ and in the temporary section they mentioned that your password is sometimes concatenated.
I've been able to get on twice out of 20 tries (connect-disconnect, repeat), but the search doesn't seem to work. :(

Might I suggest the fine Gnutella? I couldn't use Napster behind the firewall at my school, but Gnutella works pretty much anywhere.

What do you mean, it always works...certainly alot more than napster does these days....of course you'll notice one of the results you always get back is this little 0 byte file "The RIAA is watching you". The gnutella developer board is discussing how to prevent such a thing actually happening, but for now....

Or get your greedy hands on Scour Exchange Beta 2 from the kind folks at scour.com. One of my roommates just downloaded The Matrix and Erin Brockovitch, in their 500MB entirety.
Wow. I reckon it's just a matter of weeks before a bunch of movie stars begin turning into Lars Ulrich...
