"What is UP with that CAT?!"

I thought this was going to be cats scared by people. Poor kitties, I thought. But it was people scared by cats, instead, and I was righteously entertained.

These people need to stop bothering cats. It'll get them in trouble.

I like how they make the cats yowl and run as if the cats gave a damn about the tension of the scene instead of looking derisively at the protagonist and sauntering away.

odds that you open the closet door and the cat is sleeping on the top shelf instead of instantly yowling and flying towards you: 99.9%

A lot of the cat howls sounded the same. I wonder if it's equivalent to the Wilhelm scream?

"It's just a cat" is my least favorite horror movie motif. This was quite enjoyable.

Another cat mid-sneeze, though of the bigger kind.

Here is a post where I read all of the linked articles in their entirety.

I think that the cat with a Rubix Cube in the last link is half raccoon.

The only time my cats have yowled like that was when I stepped on a tail.

They cut the Yellow Fever clip short, I urge you all to bask in its full glory: That was scary!

TV Tropes entry for this trope.

Just one of many cat-related tropes. There goes my next hour...

It's just a bunch of CGI cats!

Most of these are examples of the Lewton Bus.

(I wrote that 15 years ago. It shows up on the first page of results if you Google the term. It's a real, thing. I swear.)

I feel like black cats were overrepresented.

I have a friend who lived a sheltered childhood (unsafe neighborhood) with too much TV, and she grew up terrified of cats for probably this reason. Which makes me hate this trope all the more.

in other news this sneezing guy made me laugh out loud

May I share our cat 'mid sneeze'?

I am preparing to join the fellowship of Those Owned by a Cat. Is the fact that I laugh at all of these "Things Cat Owners will Understand" a good sign?

"Things cat owners will understand" made me snort loudly enough that the cat got annoyed and jumped off the couch. Ha.

Whoa there. One of those cats was the cat from Pet Cemetary, which is definitely not just a cat. Vessel of pure evil, yes. Just a cat, no.
