Kandodo McBain's Lost Chants/Last Chance [Spotify] is a collaboration between three members of long-running Bristol psych band The Heads and John McBain of early Monster Magnet.

The album, released on 23 September 2016, consists of two sides: a 45 rpm mix and a sludgy, Earth-like 33 rpm remix by McBain.

45 rpm
Blowed Out
Holy Syke
Chant of the Ever-Circling (Last Vulture)

33 rpm
Holiest Syke
Megladon't Ever

Initially a solo-project for The Heads' guitarist and front-man Simon Price, Kandodo evokes memories of childhood expatriation:
I lived in Africa from the age of three—Zambia and Malawi—and left at 20. Africa is full of big open spaces, endless bush, rock and sands. The land, people and animals seem to take life slow, and I spent an awful lot of time staring at horizons, water, plants, insects and animals. There is a place called Lion Rock in Kasungu, Malawi, it's in a vast plain. There's an iron age kiln at the base of it, a tree on the top has scratches from some cat, trees stretch to the horizon. Epic, endless, in my dreams. I guess kandodo is a distant echo of experiences from my life.

Oh wow, this is exactly the kind of stare-at-the-stars-and-wonder space rock the changing season puts me in the mood for.

Thanks for sharing.
