With Adventure Time ending in 2018, the void has already been pre-emptively filled by The Legend of Lucky Pie, a Chinese series that caused a stir upon its initial discovery when it was thought to be a televized Adventure Time knock-off, but which is actually being made by a small team with the goal of fighting the ‘tacky’ and ‘trite’ animated shows usually shown in Chinese media. Episode 1 (turn on YouTube subtitles if not already on; others have subtitles in video): Who Makes That Voice? Episode 2: The Zodiac Maze. Episode 3: If It's The Last Thing I Poo (and recent English dub). Episode 4: Coming Soon.

Even the episode title cards are a knockoff of Adventure Time.

Wonderful! By all means make as many Adventure Time knock-offs as you please. If it had a shape-shifting dog and a talking gameboy, that'd be going a bit far, but I think they got the balance about right. It is very obviously inspired by AT though.

Also I didn't know AT was ending! I'll trade you the next fifteen seasons of The Simpsons for one more of AT.

The only way that this trade is not an absolute no-brainer is if you have to watch the next fifteen seasons of The Simpons in order to be able to watch one more season of Adventure Time. But that sounds like a really high price to pay.

I really feel my 9yo has been blessed to have been born into the golden age of animation. So, if the Chinese want to take up the mantle? More power to them.

At least we'll still have Bee and PuppyCat.

Nah, seasons 31-45 of the Simpsons were a real nadir in the overall show quality. Cutting those out means you get to jump right to season 46, and things really pick back up around season 49. It's the best of both worlds!

The Americans have been doing this for decades with British sitcoms except they're all terrible and at this is maybe adequate.

I won't deny that B&PC is great, but we really need to have more than 5 episodes in 3 years before it can take the place of Adventure Time. I agree with nihlton, Steven Universe has already kind of proven itself as a successor to AT in my opinion.

We also still have Bravest Warriors.

It was just announced last week that they are working on a more kid friendly version of Bravest Warriors.

I'm just a little bee!

Also chiming in, it's obviously inspired by Adventure Time, but there's no problem with that at all. There's also kind of another vibe going in here too. The horse character seems to be a bit more childlike than brash ol' Jake.

Also, I loved the breakdancing turtle.

Steven Universe is already as good or better than AT ever was.

Wait, there's a FIFTH episode of Bee & Puppycat now?

Adventure Time is its own thing. It doesn't have to complete with Steven Universe, they can both be good.

What I really, really, really want is a Rick and Morty that I can watch with my 9yo.

What I really, really, really want is a Rick and Morty that I can watch with my 9yo.

I've only watched a few episodes so far (it just popped up on Hulu!), but so far Gravity Falls hits that same crazy-bonkers-adventure spot as Rick and Morty for me, while also falling entirely within the dictates of Disney TV standards and practices. There's even kind of a similar naive-kid/grizzled-weirdo dynamic between the brother & sister protagonists and their great-uncle Stan, which is one of my favorite aspects of R&M.

Yeah, but there's no the Trans-Dimensional Council of Stans. Soos doesn't have an ex-girlfriend who happens to be a borg entity controlling an entire planet. There's no dead version of Dipper rotting in the backyard.

Soo did have a girlfriend that was an anime avatar come to life.
