why do I suspect that in the end, Xander turns out to be Aaron Burr?

This is so much better than it has to be. I mean, I would have loved it no matter what. That it's actually good, subtle joketelling feels like a little miracle.

Looks like Buffy herself already approves, as she has tweeted #SchuylerSisters and #SummersSisters. No surprise, given the delightful interaction/twitter duel she had with @Lin_Manuel earlier this month. Oh Lin, I didn't think I could love you more and then you turn out to be a Buffy fan?!? *swoon*

I know very little about Hamilton, but this was a pretty accurate match for Xander and Cordelia:
Alexander is penniless, ha!
That doesn't mean I want him any less

Oh my god. I just ...

Okay, first, my favorite part of this is every part of this.

Second, goddammit that's not funny. Next there will be an orphan joke about Joyce.

This is so tailored to my interests that I honestly had to check to make sure I didn't create it in my sleep.

We need (spoilers ahead): Spike dressed as "Randy Giles," snapping at Giles, "Call me son ONE MORE TIME"

Xander hugging Willow after the yellow crayon speech: "They are going through the unimaginable...it's quiet uptown"

Either Buffy or Xander with "and if there's a reason I'm still alive when everyone who loves me has died"

Snyder (in Band Candy): "I'm a general! Wheeeee!" (Being eaten by a snake) "As we snatch a stalemate from the jaws of defeat"

That ocean of Turok-han from Chosen: "We are outgunned/Outmanned" (to the crushed Hellmouth hole: "The world turned upside-down")

Giles on a plane to England: "We're gonna teach 'em how to say goodbye"

Oz, literally being the definition of "Talk less. Smile more."

Andrew (In Storyteller jacket): "Oh, let me be a part of the narrative/In the story they will write someday" (can we please get one of The Trio with Andrew being AND PEGGY?)

Over a picture of Warren: "Fools who run their mouths off wind up dead"

During a MOO meeting from Gingerbread: "Hear not the rabble who scream revolution/They have not your interests at heart/Chaos and bloodshed are not a solution/Don't let them lead you astray"

Riley and Buffy seeing each other with weapons for the first time in Hush: "If it takes fighting a war for us to meet, it will have been worth it"

Walsh, entrapping Buffy: "I will send a fully armed battalion to remind you of my love"

Where The Wild Things Are: "You say our love is draining and you can't go on"

Buffy, turning Adam's machine gun into doves: "Take the bullets out your gun"

Spike and Angel: "Immigrants. We get the job done."

Buffy jumping into the rift in The Gift: "In the eye of a hurricane, there is quiet"

Willow, snapping at Giles in After Life: "Why do you assume you're the smartest in the room? Soon that attitude may be your doom"

Buffy speechifying in Empty Places, before being thrown out of her house: "How can I keep leading when the people I'm leading keep retreating?"

Last shot of Chosen: "Look around, look around/At how lucky we are to be alive right now"

The Dark Age: "I've been reading Demon Sense by Ethan Rayne/Some people say that he's intense or he's insane/You want a revolution?/He wants to raise an Ehygon/So witness his defenestration" (okay I changed a few words on that one)

Ah, hell(mouth). Maybe I did make this in my sleep.

Wow, I did not expect to get punched so hard in the gut with this.

But "Everything is legal in New Jersey" got a literal laugh out loud from me.

I wrote more and I'm sorry.

Welcome to the Hellmouth: Kid from first scene - “But my God, she looks so helpless/And her body’s saying, “hell yes” (Darla eats him)
Vamp in ugly dated clothing: “I guess I basic’lly missed the late eighties”

Principal Flutie, The Pack: “That poor man, they’re gonna eat him alive”

Giles in the guillotine in Talent Show: “We signed a treaty with a king whose head is now in a basket/Would you like to take it out and ask it?”

Marcy in Out of Mind, Out of Sight: “We won’t be invisible. We won’t be denied”

Joyce, hitting Spike with a fire extinguisher in School Hard: “This man will not make an orphan of my daughter”

Spike, roughing up Angel in S2: “You made the wrong sucker a cuckold”

Cordelia: "You don’t have the votes/Such a blunder/Sometimes it makes me wonder/Why I even bring the thunder"

Buffy and Faith in Bad Girls: “Ev’ry day you fight, like you’re running out of time”

Buffy, yelling at the Mayor: “This prick is askin’ for someone to bring him down/Somebody gimme some dirt on this vacuous mass so we can at last unmask him”

The Mayor, selling his soul/turning into a demon: “We want our leaders to save the day/But we don’t get a say in what they trade away”

Beer Bad: "Raise a glass to freedom"

Adam, stabbing through Walsh’s chest: “You’ll always be adored by the things you create”

Giles, to Ethan Rayne in the bar (A New Man): “Here’s an itemized list of thirty years of disagreements”

Anya: "We create. You just wanna move our money around/This financial plan is an outrageous demand"

Resurrection spell over Buffy’s grave: "But when you’re gone, who remembers your name? Who keeps your flame?"

Giles in Flooded: "I traveled the wide, wide world and came back to this"

Spike, singing Rest In Peace: “Uh, do whatever you want, I’m super dead”

Willow, casting a “forget” spell on Tara: “You ever see somebody ruin their own life?”

Warren blasts off with jetpack, Andrew: "We almost died in the trench/while you were off getting high with the French"

OMG, Buffy in the asylum in Normal Again: "No one else was in the room where it happened"

Anya, tearing up in Hell’s Bells: “Well, I arranged the meeting/I arranged the menu, the venue, the seating”

Andrew, melodramatically: "Now I’m the villain in your history/I was too young and blind to see"

Spike: “My name is William/I am a poet/I wrote this poem just to show it”

I swear I'm done now

NO, HAMILTON. YOU CAN HAVE EVERY OTHER PART OF POP CULTURE BUT KEEP YOUR TERRIBLENESS OUT OF BUFFY.

... can one corner of english language media remain untainted by fucking Hamilton? Buffy (which I love) has plenty enough cringeworthy tumblr ephemera that remains entirely in-universe.

Have you considered just, you know, going into one of the many other fine threads on this here metafilter, thedaniel?

Ilana, I posted this 100% hoping for someone to do what you just did.

Sorry pals, I did in fact get up on the wrong side of the hellmouth this morning, there's no reason to post 'this is bad' in a thread full of good vibes about something, apologies.

( As a matter of fact my partner looked at me when I woke up and said "you clearly have The Doom" which does sound vaguely buffyverse. Not sure what hamilton press photo i would pair that phrase with tho)

Having grown up in Hamilton Ontario my first though was that it was about my hometown... this is much better :)

> "you clearly have The Doom"

This is an extremely common ailment that I previously did not have a good term for. I'm going to use this one, so thank you!

Ah, yes, "I see you, Metafilter folks," meaning "a bunch of relatively normal posters and that one weirdo from whom I am backing away slowly." Well, I never claimed to be anything but intense and insane.
