I enjoyed the 'ringle' links (especially the 2nd one). And the matching tags.

Yes yes yes

Also the Rock singing Here Comes Santa Claus in the style of Elvis -- which is inarguably the best version of that song -- is the best thing.

Slow clap, you incredible goof. I'm morbidly curious whether you worked from my transcript or typed the whole thing from scratch.

After looking through this post, my brain no longer recognizes the lower-case letters r-o-c-k as a valid English word. Obviously "roc" is an enormous mythical bird, but what's this "rock" business?
posted by straight at 7:19 AM on December 21, 2017 [1 favorite]

Oh god the spongmonkeys. The worst part of this is that I can open the links in another tab and for way too many of the "jingle" links I can look at the title and sing the jingle. It's awful.

You just belled my jingels.

Jethro Tull's Solstice Bells (previously) don't seem to have been included.

That's OK though! Looking for it lead to me finding this wonderful string quartet version from last year!

Ring out Solstice Bells!

By my count (well, by MS Word's Word Count count) there are 251 links in this post. April 17th (the day before my birthday) marks 251 days until Christmas (thanks @christmas_clock). On April 17th, 2018 I will open the first link in this post, and thus begin the largest and greatest Advent Calendar in the history of recorded time. Bless you for this gift.

i clicked on all the links

there're two repeated links:
- the 11th paragraph, first line: "rock bell jingle rock", both rocks have the same link to this
- the last paragraph, the two last lines, the first "bell" links in both go to this video

other notes:
- i've never heard of Bell helicopters but that's neat
- so that's what Alexander Graham Bell sounds like
- yay Kristen Bell sloth video! I can never get enough of it!
- the Bohemian Rhapsody handbells is wonderful, and that led to this related video of Blue Oyster Cult's Don't Fear The Reaper... with handbells (and MORE COWBELL!)
- hey now we all know ASL for "jingle", "rock", and "bell". someone should cut that video together
- omg i had forgotten that otamatones exist
- the Straight No Chaser song is pretty great! i love modern relatable christmas songs
- I have to point this out. Everyone rags on that Frozen short before Coco staring Olaf, but it showed that while Elsa stay trapped in her room, over the years she still sort of communicated with Anna through drawings of Olaf. Aside from how daft the plot of the short is, that bit was really sweet.
- Zoe Bell!
- too much taco bell for me
- not enough The Rock
- that Dead Malls series is... interesting
- you'd think there'd be more bell related Monty Python stuff, but hmm
- Fruity Oaty Bar! makes me wanna rewatch all of Firefly...
- I noped out of that 1st ASMR bell peppers video faster than I thought possible, AND THEN 3 MORE WHYYYY
- that Twisted Sister carpet jingle might be the most representative thing of this post
- I appreciate that the first "bell" link of each paragraph was an introduction to the rest of the bell links
- no Charlie Brown christmas songs?
- also no Dropkick Murphys, but I wouldn't've expect it
- there exists a jingle for Southern Maid Donuts, sung by Elvis Presley, but I can't find an audio for it
- the last "rock" link of The Rock really sends it home for me, unexpectedly. thanks for that. <3

not enough The Rock

What would be enough Mr. The Rock? Such that a little bit more Mr. The Rock would be too much Mr. The Rock? But of course there can't be too much Mr. The Rock, so logic-ally there can't be just enough Mr. The Rock either. E pluribus unum, any amount of Mr. The Rock, up to and beyond 100% Mr. The Rock, is not enough Mr. The Rock.

A Saturday morning:
* Jingle Rock Bell coming through three devices. One more I want to be boot-to-JRB; its final purpose not met but a purposeful hellish bridge.
* Furthered by local mirroring and an improved media player.
* Sounds best with two though disassociated however many .
* After a while you too may hear other patterns. "Chico Rock Bill. Chico Rock Bill Chico Chico." A summary of college recreational time. "Chico Rock Rock Bell" is where you meet everyone else in town on a budget, a drunk and a hunger.
* A "Jingle Bill Rock Rock" keeps on your toes.

I lie in wait for my family to return, cleaning. THEY WILL LOVE IT, Ḭ̵̭̗ͅ ͖̣̪̗̘͜A͎M̩̫̫͍ ̟͠C̞̠̪͢Ḛ̣̼͚Ŗ͔̪̲̣ͅT̥̗̙͍Ạ̢̥̜͍͇̝ͅI̡͎͉͙̳̥̻̟N͔̦͡

I mentioned this over in the best post thread, but man. This post is the gift that keeps on giving. It's like opening an advent calendar a bit at a time.

It's got:

Bell

Carillon playing! (Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silent, a 17th century French melody, is arranged for carillon by Ronald Barnes and played by David Christensen on the carillon at UC Riverside). Nifty.

Jingle

Weird nostalgia trips (that bloody Toy R' Us jingle I haven't thought of in...decades but that's somehow wired deeply in my brain)
