I'm sitting here in front of the computer instead of going out to shovel horse shit in the pens. This winter I vowed to keep up with the manure, and it seems nearly insurmountable, between the snow, ice, number of horses, and days that I just couldn't get out to keep up.

So what I've got is two piles (that the horses keep gleefully pawing apart) and a miserable couple hours ahead of me chipping the old poo out of the ice to stack.

Orrnyereg, and all of MetaFilter, I am now inspired! It's time to up my game. I will no longer lackadaisically move horse turds into a pile. I will create....ART!

Neat! Organic pykrete is a great idea! Now if we can just train the animals to poop in straight lines, they can build arctic cities for us.

It's also worth noting that Uolba is way out in the middle of nowhere, even by the standards of eastern Siberia. I'm not sure if it counts as outsider art, but it's way the hell outside. Also, having encountered a three foot high stump of frozen human poop a few hundred miles away (piled in front of an entirely filled and frozen outhouse: ice fisher humor, I assume), I can testify that shit is surprisingly robust and not at all smelly. At least until the spring thaw.
